Beacon took the role of Producer for an entry into the annual DV Mission 48 Hour Challenge – which ended up winning Best Film! The Dragon’s Shadow was written by Tim Pritchard, who also starred in the two minute short alongside Stephen Launay, James Farmer and Russ Tribe. Connor Cleary directed the Japanese 1960’s film noir, with Tim accomplishing a tough edit in the time allocated. New work experience lads Jacob Chapman and Ben Ramsey were runners, with Ryan Wilson on sound and Saffron Watson grabbing behind the scenes photos which you can find elsewhere in this magazine. Tim commented, “It’s amazing, I’m so chuffed. Couldn’t have done it without the Beacon team, a good combo. Let’s do it beacon NEWS again!” Tim, Steve and Jacob picked up the trophy at the Awards Night held at the Wedgewood Rooms in Southsea on 9 March. A record was also set for Beacon with its youngest ever on-screen talent getting involved in the form of a very professionally behaved 13 month Oliver Farmer! A true star is born!
