On 21 March 2019, Beacon Productions took delivery of a second hand Canon C100, the latest camera to enter service for the club and the eventual replacement for the Canon 7D which has been in use since 2012. The Canon C100 is a highly regarded camera; such was the case that it was hired out by former member Dominic Hildrew two days after it arrived! Costing £1049, the unit has been named the new Beacon 2 and will officially enter service with Beacon Nonsense before its main duty of being chief camera on the new series of 80 Degrees. The camera displaces the old 7D, which has been renamed Beacon 2A for the remainder of its time with the club. It’s hire period expires at the end of the month and it will go up for sale in May where it will be likely to be snapped up pretty quickly. A special offer of £450 has been made to Beacon members beacon for the camera, plus lens, batteries and cards. This completes the main purchases for Beacon, what with the Black Magic arrival last Spring. All that remains is to buy some
SD cards and a new lens once the 7D has been sold.
